Apparently I Don't Look Before I Leap

  • Listening to: Motley Crue
  • Reading: just finished Treasure Island
  • Watching: Tenchi Universe, and before that, Rodan

I recently undertook a challenge that would possibly further my skills as an artist. Said challenge was trying to color a drawing of mine through the computer. (this drawing in fact: [link]) Little did I know what I was getting myself into. I have some good pals of mine helping, but good gravy is this tough.

I find myself, currently cussing like Yosemite Sam whenever I try to figure out this infernal contraption called Photoshop Elements. I'm getting some colors I like, but I worry it's going to look like Candy Cane Lane when I'm done. On top of all this, I'm using a mouse because I don't have the cash for a Tablet, so it's making my wrist want to move to a brand new arm. Frustration abounds.

In the meantime I think my drawing ability has jumped ahead and I kinda missed some of it, but I don't really mind. as long as I'm getting better and better, I know I'm doing well with my skills. Now, if we were going by the number of jobs trying to hire me, well...

But I refuse to be brought down by this! I intend to persevere through this and improve! I already have taken my frustrations with coloring on the computer and am making plans to see what happens why I try to color the drawing either through Markers or Watercolors or both. We'll just see how confident the computer feels when it sees I have markers and paints to let me color well! Dumb jerk computer.

One thing I have noticed though, is that I'm becoming much more productive with my art. I've been fighting through a bad slump, but I feel my confidence is starting to pick up once again, and with this experiment with coloring on the computer, my skills can only get better. We'll see what happens as I continue.

As it is, I'm gonna take a break before my eyes start to bleed. Anyone who would like to chat, feel free to drop me a line.
